Capuchins of Morgon - Christmas 2009

This is a recent picture of the Capuchins at St. Francis Friary in Morgon, France. Aren't they just beautiful!

The picture was sent to Fr. Freddy Mery along with a letter encouraging our tertiaries to continue the fight despite troubles we've had in the past year. Since the devil has been trying to sow discord, we must be doing something right!

Fr. Francois-Marie (Head of the Third Order fraternities around the world) is at the back on the left side close to the radiator (in front of the Capuchin located at the very back). Fr. Antoine (Guardian of the Convent) is right behind the middle Capuchin bent down in the front row.

We ask for your prayers for these Franciscan warriors. Currently there are a total of 28 Capuchins in two friaries. We also ask for your prayers for an increase in vocations for the Capuchin Poor Clares, who only number five (one of which is an English postulant).

Rosary Crusade - 19 Million Rosaries!

Dear Friends,

What great news it is to hear that the number of rosaries prayed for the Crusade to win the graces for the pope and bishops to consecrate Russia has exceeded 19 million!  Deo gratias!

Here in Canada the total was 719,777.  Our Capuchins in France prayed 69,397 rosaries.  The numbers for all groups can be found here.

Tertiary Office of the Paters

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Secular of St. Francis,

For those of you who pray the "Office of the Paters" (i.e., Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be recited twelve times per day) to fulfill the above obligation of our holy Rule, I have posted a book that can be used to add flavour, so to speak, to the reciting of the prayers. It will also help you to break up the prayers into sessions based on the canonical hours rather than praying them all at one.  The book was sent to me by a tertiary novice residing in the United States, who in turn received it from a postulant.

Please remember that when we pray the Office we pray with the Church.  Therefore, let us pray the Office with outmost attention and fervour.
